ELTO Membership

ELTO helps insurers support the employers’ liability tracing process by ensuring relevant policy data and organisation information can be used through the ELD. Your organisation may need to apply for membership, confirm current details, update its owner or signatory information, provide claims contact information where required, and complete any applicable due diligence or agreement steps before onboarding is complete.

We're replatforming the ELD, are you prepared?

ELD NextGen is ELTO's programme to modernise the Employers' Liability Database (ELD), delivering a secure, resilient and future-ready platform that supports Member insurers in meeting the evolving needs of the industry.

By moving the ELD to a modern cloud-based architecture, the programme will enhance security, strengthen data integrity and improve system reliability. For Member insurers, this means greater confidence in the long-term sustainability of the service, improved resilience against changing technology and security risks, and a platform designed to support future regulatory and operational requirements.

Ensure you are prepared and stay informed of the latest developments, key milestones and what they mean for your organisation by visiting the ELD NextGen Knowledge Hub.

Member FAQs

How do ELTO policy tracing requests work?

When a search cannot be resolved from the database, our tracing team asks insurers directly.

Most searches are answered from the database. When one cannot be, our tracing investigators run an extended search and contact insurers directly, asking them to check their own records for cover we do not hold.

That request arrives at the tracing email address your organisation has given us, which is why keeping that mailbox current and monitored matters.

How do I tell ELTO about a business transfer, merger or name change?

Please inform us if your organisation has changed name, merged, acquired or transferred a portfolio, or needs a business transfer announcement published. These changes affect how claimants and solicitors identify the correct insurer, so getting them recorded matters.
