Today marks an exciting new chapter for the Employers' Liability Tracing Office (ELTO) as we officially unveil our brand-new website.
This is the first major redesign of the ELTO website since 2011, representing a significant step forward in how we support claimants, insurers, legal professionals and wider stakeholders. More than simply a refreshed digital presence, it signals an exciting new chapter for ELTO as we continue our transformation and prepare for the launch of the new ELD (Employers’ Liability Database) in 2027.
The website has been developed in close partnership with agency Digital Wonderlab, whose expertise, creativity and collaborative approach have played a crucial role in bringing ELTO's vision to life.
Modern, future-fit and built around our users
As part of the project, we have introduced our new visual identity and branding, creating a cleaner, contemporary look and feel that reflects the organisation we are today while positioning us for the future.
The site has been designed to significantly improve the user experience, making it easier for visitors to find information, guidance and support. Whether you're learning about ELTO for the first time, looking for member resources, accessing support documentation or preparing for upcoming changes through the ELD NextGen programme, the site offers a clearer and more intuitive way to find what you need.
From the outset, our focus was on the people who use our services. We invested significant time and effort in understanding their needs through persona development and user journey mapping. By considering the distinct requirements of each stakeholder group, we have created simpler navigation, clearer and more accessible pages, and a more seamless route through to the ELD.
Keeping our purpose front and centre
While much has changed visually, one thing remains exactly the same: ELTO's purpose.
Every search carried out through the ELD represents a person, a family or a business looking for information that can make a meaningful difference to their lives. That human impact remains at the heart of everything we do.
Visitors to the new site can now watch "Becky's Story: How an ELD search was life changing for my Dad", featuring Becky, a member of the public who kindly shared her family's experience and the important role ELTO played in helping them find the information they needed.
Becky's story is a powerful reminder of why ELTO exists and why raising awareness of our services matters. Her experience helps demonstrate the real-world value of the ELD and the difference it can make to individuals and families during challenging times.
We are incredibly grateful to Becky for allowing us to share her story and for helping us place the people we serve at the heart of our digital presence.
A message from the Chair
Commenting on the launch, ELTO Chair Steve Browne said:
The launch of our new website is an important milestone for ELTO and a significant investment in the future of our organisation. We wanted to create a modern, accessible and user-focused platform that better serves all of our stakeholders while reflecting the important role ELTO plays across the industry.
The result is a website that not only improves access to information and support today, but also provides a strong foundation for the future as we prepare for the launch of the new ELD in 2027. I would like to thank everyone involved in bringing this project to life and, in particular, our partners at Digital Wonderlab for helping us deliver a website that places users and purpose at its heart.
Looking ahead
The website is one part of ELTO's wider transformation programme.
Over the coming months, we will continue to build towards the new ELD through the ELD NextGen programme, delivering a modernised platform designed to meet the evolving needs of those who rely on our services for years to come.
Today, however, is an opportunity to celebrate. We invite you to explore the site, learn more about ELTO's services, watch Becky's Story and join us as we take this next step forward.
Welcome to the new ELTO website.
