Directory of EL insurers
Insurance companies merge, change name and close to new business. This directory shows which insurer now handles the employers' liability business written by a company that no longer trades under its old name.
What the directory is for
If you are tracing employers' liability cover, the name on an old policy document, payslip or certificate is often not the name of a company that exists today. Insurers are bought and sold, and when that happens the responsibility for policies written years earlier moves with the business.
This directory maps those old names to the insurer that holds them now. Look up the name you have, and the entry tells you who to approach.
It is a reference list rather than a search of policy records. If you want to find the insurer for a specific employer and period, search the Employers' Liability Database instead. The database is free to use and covers more than 41 million policy records.
