3 mins | Information
Plans to modernise the Employers' Liability Database now underway.
ELTO has taken a major step forward in its mission to futureproof the Employers' Liability Database (ELD), announcing to Members this month that work has now begun on the ELD replatforming programme – named ELD NextGen.
Given the scale and complexity of modernising the ELD, ELTO have engaged leading digital software development consultancy Softwire, to support the next phase of the ELD’s evolution.
“Following months of careful research, I am delighted that we have selected Softwire as our digital partner for replatforming the ELD. Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB), who manage the service and platform on behalf of ELTO, are working closely with Softwire to deliver the new solution. Their dedicated team is already in the discovery phase, drawing on subject matter experts from the ELD NextGen programme and feedback from across our user groups to shape requirements. After go-live, MIB will continue to manage the service, with Softwire providing ongoing platform support, ensuring welcome continuity and stability for our Members.” – Steve Browne, ELTO Chair
The partnership aims to deliver a faster, more reliable, and more intuitive ELD service, fit for the future. The modernised platform is expected to streamline data uploads, enhance validation processes, and improve reporting transparency - making day-to-day interactions simpler and more efficient for all Members while also improving the accuracy and speed of EL policy searches for the public. It will also improve data quality and reduce the effort required to maintain compliance with FCA standards.
“We’re excited to partner with ELTO to make it easier for ELTO’s users to quickly find employers’ liability insurance information while helping members meet their regulatory obligations. Building on the strong cultural alignment we felt throughout procurement—and combining our insurance‑sector expertise with highly useable data platforms—we’ve assembled an excellent team ready to deliver significantly improved value for ELTO members and their users” - Sean Judge, Client Director FS&I, Softwire
ELTO’s collaboration with Softwire marks a significant milestone in the ongoing transformation of the ELD, setting the foundation for a robust and future-ready service.
