Becoming an ELTO member

All bodies that own current or past EL liabilities for UK employers are invited to join ELTO as members. The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has now made it a requirement for such bodies to publish information about EL policies and membership of ELTO will fulfil those obligations.

Currently over 95% of the EL insurance market is already signed up as members of ELTO.

As an ELTO member, an insurer will be required to submit the required data to ELTO in a definitive format and within specified timescales. Insurers will also need to continue tracing historic policies in accordance with ELTO membership rules. ELTO will also operate a sanctions process for late data delivery, and will audit insurers' tracing practices.
